Broadcaster and DJ Adele Roberts is encouraging residents to kick off the New Year by signing up for the Cancer Research UK Race for Life in Dundee. The beloved charity events will return to the city on June 15, and those who register in January can enjoy a 50% discount on the entry fee by using the code RACE25NY during a special early bird promotion.
Taking place in Camperdown Park, this year’s Race for Life will feature a full schedule of activities, including a 5K and 10K race in the morning, followed by the fun-filled Pretty Muddy obstacle course in the afternoon, with options available for kids as well.
With approximately 34,600 people diagnosed with cancer in Scotland each year, the funds raised through these events are vital for supporting research aimed at better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the disease.
Adele Roberts, who successfully battled bowel cancer in 2021, shares her personal motivation for participating. “I Race for Life because of my little sister Lois. After losing our Uncle Phil and watching our Auntie Ann’s battle with cancer, Lois was inspired to participate in Race for Life to honor them and support organizations that helped our family,” she said.
Lisa Adams, Cancer Research UK’s spokeswoman in Scotland, invites everyone in Dundee and Tayside to join the Race for Life. “We want as many people as possible to participate. Our events are non-competitive, ensuring that everyone can take part and enjoy themselves. There’s no pressure to finish within a specific time—just come, lace up your shoes, and give it your best.”
