Chart-topping singer Yungblud is set to perform an intimate show at Dundee’s new LiveHouse venue this summer, marking the first major gig announced for the recently opened site.
THIS SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED
The Doncaster-born star will take to the stage on Wednesday 10 July as part of a series of ‘up close and personal’ performances, with Dundee the only Scottish date on the tour.
Writing on social media, Yungblud told fans: “I always love doing these shows. We will be playing songs off the new album stripped back and sharing stories about how the songs were made. We’re putting together something real special for you.”
Tickets go on sale at 11am this Thursday (via Dundee’s Assai Records), and strong demand is expected.
First major gig for new city venue
LiveHouse, located on South Ward Road, opened its doors on 2 May with a performance from DJ Craig Charles and played host to the closing party of Dundee Dance Event on Sunday.
But Yungblud’s appearance marks the first major concert booking for the newly redeveloped venue, which aims to become a key player on Scotland’s live music scene.
Speaking ahead of the announcement, LiveHouse operator Gus Robb said: “This is the first major gig for LiveHouse. It’s the only Scottish date of the tour and that shows we are able to attract big names here. Hopefully this is the first of many.”
More to come
Scottish rock favourites Idlewild are also set to perform at LiveHouse later this year, with a gig confirmed for 6 December as part of their first UK tour in six years.
With Yungblud now added to the calendar, music fans can expect more headline acts to follow as Dundee’s newest live venue builds its profile.
